Thomas, Lord Fairfax, ninth Baron of Cameron

  • Built in 1816, and bought in 1830 by Thomas, Lord Fairfax, ninth Baron of Cameron.
  • Thomas Fairfax, with his father, was among the last guests at Mount Vernon, on December 11, 1799, before Washington died.
  • He lived the life of a country squire overseeing his forty thousand acres. He married three times: Mary Aylett, Laura Washington, Margeret Herbert.
  • This Federal style dwelling was constructed by William Yeaton, who bought this lot in 1799. From1830 to 1846 it was the residence of Thomas, ninth Lord Fairfax, whose wife was a grand-daughter of John Carlyle.
  • Marked by the John Alexander Chapter in 1966
